Emotional Detox Blog: Could this be the reason you are hungry?

I don’t know about you but I start getting hungry around 11:30 a.m. I am not always up for making myself something to eat so I typically go for a piece of fruit or nuts to hold me over. It wasn’t until recently when I noticed I wanted food but I really didn’t feel hungry. Perhaps, I thought, my body is attempting to tell me something different. Rather than spend my precious time and energy trying to figure it out, instead I asked myself the first Pre-Cleanse question:

How is my breathing?

The moment I asked this question, my breathing started to deepen and sure enough I began to feel more focused. What I learned that day was my body was hungry for breath. It was my body’s way of letting me know there were some emotions coming up, in me to be processed.

As each of us indulge in the sweetness of holiday’s it can be easy to misinterpret our internal signals. Ask yourself, do I need food or is my body looking to experience a deep breath? Be kind to yourself as holiday’s can be triggering not just of the past but also reminders of where you might like to be in the future.

You can find the complete (C.L.E.A.N.S.E) in my book Emotional Detox. In addition, I take you step by step through the method in this downloadable course Emotional Detox: Building Better Boundaries. Quite frankly, I wish I had this course much earlier in my life. You will learn many things but one of them is how to read (interpret) your internal triggers.
