3 Things You Should Never Say to An Anxious Child

Two days ago, I dropped my sweet girl off at camp. Two hours into the trip, I looked back and saw tears in her eyes, “Mom, she said, I don’t know if I am ready for this.” My heart sank. The truth of the matter is, I too was feeling worried and anxious about her being away for two weeks.

Coincidence or Confirmation?

Have you ever thought about someone and then they suddenly call you? Or maybe you have been thinking about going to a certain class, and the teacher passes you on your morning walk? Or perhaps dragonflies or humming birds keep appearing around you.

If you asked my family what sign gets me most excited, it is the number 222. When I see this number, I know to sit back and trust the universe is giving me a heads up that something is coming down the pike. At first, when the numbers repeated themselves, I would try figure out what it was or meant. What I have learned is the harder I try, the more resistance I create to bringing these new, often exciting experiences into fruition.

Emotional Detox: Cleansing Family Triggers

Hey Guys,

It is that time of year when families get together, celebrating graduations, weddings, birthdays etc. While it can all be very exciting, no doubt it can come with some triggers. For starters, it can put a little strain on your wallet. Let’s face it attending a wedding (especially those destination ones) or hosting a graduation party can be pretty darn expensive!

Then there is the reality that you might have to face situations or people that rub you the wrong way. Perhaps your sisters husband, ex wife or even a neighbor. Know you are not alone and before you get yourself in a tizzy, I encourage you to see these events as opportunities to C.L.E.A.N.S.E.!

  1. Don’t take the bait. While Aunt Alice might make a comment about your cooking, or your brother my show up two hours late, be careful not to use these incidents to feed your reactivity. It is simply not worth it. Let it go! Remember real change comes from feeling your emotions not reinforcing your reactions.

  2. Take it down a notch. Sure we would all love to have beautiful flowing gardens in our yards for everyone to admire, however, similar to planning a wedding you can’t splurge on everything. Let go of being perfect and instead invest in your own well being. Remember people are more impacted by the way you make them feel.
